Police responding to a burglary alarm at Hampton Lanes on Main Street in Northampton found that the roof had completely collapsed just after 5 a.m., according to the county’s emergency alerts page.
The family-owned bowling alley and restaurant — opened in 1962 — posted numerous photos of the extensive damage to its Facebook page.
“Well we are going to be closed awhile!” the photos were captioned.
The photos garnered hundreds of comments from locals sharing their support:
“I am crushed....we bowl there every week,” wrote one commenter. “I hope they can rebuild. It was the best alley in the valley.”
The region experienced about two feet of snowfall with 18 to 24 inches more expected today, according to the National Weather Service.
